Step 1:Prepare the Tri Tip

  1. Take the Tri Tip out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  2. Pat the steak dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. Rub olive oil evenly on both sides of the steak, then season with salt, pepper, and your favorite spices.

Step 2:Preheat the Grill or Oven

  1. If using a grill, preheat to medium-high heat (around 200°C/400°F).
  2. If using an oven, preheat to 190°C/375°F.

Step 3:Insert the heiyo Wireless Thermometer EM09

  1. Insert the EM09 probe into the thickest part of the Tri Tip, avoiding bones or fat.
  2. Open the Meat App, connect via Bluetooth, and set the target temperature to 54°C/130°F (for rare).
  • 54°C/130°F(Rare)
  • 60°C/140°F(Medium)
  • 66°C/150°F(Well-Done)

Step 4: Start Cooking

  1. Place the Tri Tip on the preheated grill or in the oven.
  2. Cook each side for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Monitor the internal temperature in real-time using the Meat App for precise control.

Step 5: Rest the Steak

  1. When the EM09 alerts you that the steak has reached the target temperature, remove it from the grill or oven.
  2. Wrap the steak in foil and let it rest for 10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Step 6: Slice and Serve

  1. Slice the Tri Tip against the grain into thin pieces.
  2. Serve with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes, and enjoy!
