VP05/VP07/VP09What foods are best for Mason jar vacuum storage?
Dry goods work best, including nuts, seeds, dried fruit, coffee beans, whole grains, flour, and crackers.
VP05/VP07/VP09Can I vacuum seal coffee beans?
Yes. Removing air helps slow oxidation and preserve the aroma of coffee beans.
VP05/VP07/VP09Why are nuts good for vacuum storage?
Vacuum storage slows fat oxidation, which helps keep nuts from spoiling or turning rancid.
VP05/VP07/VP09Can I vacuum seal hard cheese?
Yes. Hard aged cheeses such as Parmesan and Cheddar work well, but keep them refrigerated.
VP09Can I store berries and salad greens?
Yes, in the refrigerator. HEIYO estimates 1–2 weeks for berries and salad greens. Actual results depend on freshness and storage temperature.
VP05/VP07/VP09Can I store leftovers and meal prep?
Yes, but refrigerate within 2 hours of cooking. Eat cooked leftovers, such as chicken, within 3–4 days. (USDA FSIS)
VP05/VP07/VP09Can I seal soups, broths, and stews in jars?
Yes. Cool them to room temperature first, leave at least 1–1.5 inches of headspace, and refrigerate after sealing.
VP05/VP07/VP09Can I store sauces, jams, and pickles?
Yes, but refrigerate them after opening. HEIYO estimates about 2–3 weeks for sauces and 1–2 months for opened pickles.
VP05/VP07/VP09Can I vacuum seal raw broccoli, cauliflower, or cabbage?
Not recommended. These cruciferous vegetables keep releasing gas after harvest, which can break the seal and speed up microbial growth.
VP05/VP07/VP09Can I vacuum seal raw mushrooms?
Not recommended. Raw mushrooms contain a lot of moisture and can turn slimy under vacuum. Cook or dehydrate them first.
VP05/VP07/VP09Can I vacuum seal soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert?
Not recommended. Soft cheeses are high in moisture and actively ferment. Store them with standard refrigeration instead.
VP05/VP07/VP09Can I vacuum seal peeled raw garlic?
Not recommended, especially at room temperature. Garlic may carry botulism spores. Pickle or dehydrate it first. (CDC)
VP05/VP07/VP09Can I store garlic-infused or herb-infused oil in a vacuum jar at room temperature?
No. Garlic-in-oil stored at room temperature carries a botulism risk. Refrigerate it and use it within 4 days, or freeze it. (NCHFP)
VP05/VP07/VP09Can I seal freshly washed herbs?
Not recommended. Leftover moisture speeds up spoilage in low-oxygen storage. Fully dehydrate or freeze-dry herbs first.
VP05/VP07/VP09Can vacuum-sealed raw fish be refrigerated for a long time?
Not recommended. For low-oxygen packaged raw fish, refrigeration may be the only barrier against botulism. Freeze raw fish for long-term storage. (FDA)
VP09Does vacuum-sealed raw meat still need refrigeration?
Yes. Vacuum sealing only slows quality loss. Raw meat must still be refrigerated or frozen.
VP09Can I seal hot food immediately?
No. Hot food releases steam as it cools, which can weaken the seal and add moisture. Cool it to room temperature first.
VP05/VP07/VP09Can I seal liquids in VP09 vacuum bags?
Not recommended. Leftovers with a small amount of sauce can go in a vacuum bag, but too much liquid can be pulled into the device. Use jars for larger amounts of liquid.
VP09Can the MS02 shred raw meat?
Not recommended. The MS02 is designed for cooked meat. Use cooked chicken or pork only.
MS02How should I store shredded meat?
Refrigerate within 2 hours of cooking, or within 1 hour when temperatures are above 90°F (32°C). (USDA FSIS)
MS02Can I use the MS02 to prepare chicken for my dog?

Do not wash the main unit with water. Avoid the USB-C port and keep it dry. Occasionally clean the sealing ring with a soft, dry brush to remove food residue.

The food may be releasing gas, or moisture or residue on the rim may have affected the seal. Check whether the food is suitable for vacuum storage and reseal if needed.
VP05/VP07/VP09What if the VP09 cannot remove air from a bag?
Make sure the bag has an air valve that fits the VP09 Hose Connector. Press the Hose Connector firmly onto the bag valve, press the button again, and keep holding it in place until sealing is complete.
